Engraving of Anne of Denmark, as Queen. Three quarter length with plumed cap, pearl earrings and necklace, open collar, embroidered gown and bodice with hooped skirt. Standing with left hand on hip, holding a fan, and right holding a handkerchief. With drapery above and Latin verses below, including publisher's address, 'Are to be sould be [name removed] Peter Stent.' Fourth state of five, for a second state see RCIN 601427 and for a fifth see RCIN 601427. For the corresponding portrait of James I see RCIN 601381 and RCIN 601382.
There may have been a first state of this print without a publisher's address, as with the portrait of James I (see RCIN 601381). Second state published by Holland (RCIN 601426), the third state was published by Thomas Johnson, whose plates were then purchased by Peter Stent who republished the print in its fourth state (RCIN 601428). A fifth and final state was published by John Overton after 1665, when he purchased Stent's plates after his death (RCIN 601427).Provenance
