Two Sèvres soft-paste porcelain plates. Bleu céleste ground with gilded decoration. Birds in landscape settings are painted in colours in three oval reserves on the border. In the centre of the plate is a cluster of three pink roses within a circular gold band entwined by a berried laurel garland painted in natural colours. The border, which is slightly concave, has a scalloped rim of twelve alternating small and large lobes. Three oak-and-acorn garlands in tooled and burnished gold are seemingly suspended from three gold studs by the rim of the plate. The garlands extend into the reserves, passing under the gold bands which frame them and terminating in the centre of the reserves at the top. Narrow gold bands run round the rim and the inner edge of the border, the latter accompanied by an additional serrated gold line. The bands framing the reserves are tooled with two lines, feathered on one side and interrupted at four points by crossed ribbons. A zigzag line is tooled on the inside edge of the circle round the roses.
