A Chinese porcelain bowl decorated with eighteenth-century English enamelling. With rounded sides and deep foot. Plant sprays painted in blue round the sides have been supplemented with flowers in red, and with four pendants between with half-chrysanthemums in iron-red and gilt on a green ground, the petals executed in thick white enamel; inside are similar designs, with a flower-spray medallion in the centre. On the base, in blue, within a double ring, are a pair of fish.
The white enamelling is characteristic of English decoration on certain imported Chinese blue-and-white wares.
