A set of four soft-paste porcelain half-size wine bottle coolers, gilt lines enclosing a moulded rim and two parcel gilt stylised shell handles; bleu céleste ground with two large white reserves painted with fruit and floral bouquet, surrounded by tooled gilt husk trail which loops around to form a wreath beneath the handles, centred by crossed laurel branches; gilt line about the foot.
Provenance
Part of the Essex Service first recorded in the Royal Collection in the Confectionary at Carlton House in an inventory dated 1826 ‘No. 130. A Dessert Service of light blue and gold Seve Porcelain' noted as purchased from Lord Essex.
