A set of four soft-paste bone-ash porcelain candelabra; each with a bulbous finial from which spread three scrolling arms with socles and drip pans, on a shaft spreading to a shaped circular base with three scroll feet; painted with Mazarine blue reserves and swags of flowers.
Provenance
Part of a similarly decorated dinner and dessert service, known as the Mecklenberg Service, commissioned by King George III and Queen Charlotte, by whom presented to her brother, Adolphus Frederick IV, Duke of Mecklenberg-Strelitz in 1764. By descent until 1919; Sir Joseph Duveen: James Oakes by whom presented to Queen Elizabeth for her Silver Wedding anniversary, 1947.
