Screen of intricate 'mosaic' inlay (sadeli work) with wool tapestry of Queen Elizabeth II. Signed by the designer, Issa Bahadori, in a roundel in the bottom right-hand corner, and with the place and date of production embroidered on the bottom edge.
Provenance
Presented to Queen Elizabeth II at Isfahan during the 1961 State Visit to Iran, by the Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Part of a suite of furniture and writing set decorated with mosaic inlay, including a desk (RCIN 519), armchair (RCIN 520), inkstand (RCIN 521), two boxes (RCINs 522 and 523) and a fire screen (RCIN 524).
