An oval silver-gilt jar and cover. The finial is cast as a boy crowning a girl with a wreath, on a stepped cover chased with fleurs de lis, leopard masks, rosettes and husks. The jar is densely cast in high relief with bacchantes and bunches of grapes, on a base embossed with laurel leaves and rosettes.
Struck with hallmarks for London, 1808/9 with duty mark and mark of Thomas Phipps & Edward Robinson II. -
