A pair of ovoid frosted glass iced water jugs with silver-gilt mounts. Each has a domed cover with a crown finial and border of pendant grapes and vine leaves. The jug has a vinestock handle branching into fruiting vine trails around the neck and body and a crowned VR monogram. On a circular foot.
Provenance
Purchased by Queen Victoria from Mortimer & Hunt, 30 September 1840 for £94 10s. The bill describes them as 'iced water jugs' rather than the more traditional 'claret jugs'.
