In two volumes, each with a spine label and stamp which indicate they were in Prince Albert's library.
Both Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were interested in theatre and costume. Prince Albert's library contained several volumes of colourful costumes for both theatre and opera, as well as dramatic texts. This volume illustrates characters in costume from performances at the National Theatre in Berlin. The image, shown, of Mary Queen of Scots is from the last act of the tragedy 'Maria Stuart'.
