Struck with city mark of Strasbourg and maker’s mark of Imlin.Provenance
Part of a toilet service created for Caroline Polyène, Landgravine Frederick of Hesse, who left it to her daughter, Augusta, Duchess of Cambridge, who in turn left it to her daughter, Augusta, Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Queen Mary bought the set from her Mecklenburg cousins in 1933.
