A Britannia-standard silver warming pan, the hinged lid is divided by radiating ribs into eight panels pierced with scrolling foliage, around a central circular reserve engraved with a crowned CR monogram. The deep bowl has an inscription on the underside and is fitted with a long ebonised turned wooden handle with an acorn finial.
The warming pan belonged to Queen Caroline (consort to George II) and then to Queen Charlotte (consort to George III). It appears in the sale of Queen Charlotte's possessions, on 19 May 1819, lot 118 where it is described as 'A curious silver warming pan'. It sold for £19 2s 6d and was purchased by Rundell, Bridge & Rundell.Provenance
