A circular stoneware plaque in blue dip, set in a circular gilt metal frame chased to the front with interlaced ribbon and foliage, the plaque with double profile heads of Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, dressed in Coronation robes and wearing crowns, with inscription EDWARD VII ALEXANDRA above. Although first catalogued as an example of Wedgwood porcelain, similar plaques are known to have been made by the Sevres factory, although the mount on this example covers the back which would identify it for certain.
Provenance
First recorded in the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle in an inventory of Wedgwood porcelain dated 1914 - 17. Probably produced to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexanda, 1902.
