An oval jasperware plaque in blue dip in gilt metal bezel and upright rectangular giltwood frame with suspension loop and bombe glazing, the plaque decorated in white low relief with the profile of Prince Adolphus Frederick, later Duke of Cambridge, facing right, his hair curled and held in a ponytail, a lace cravat and plain coat, wearing the riband of the Order of the Garter across his chest.
Provenance
The frame by J. Manley of Eton is from the early twentieth century. First recorded in the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle in an inventory of Wedgwood porcelain dated 1914 - 17, this plaque replaced a later reproduction of this subject.
