Provenance
Probably the limning by Peter Oliver after Raphael's St George recorded by Vanderdoort as being in Charles I's collection; acquired for Queen Victoria by Sir Richard Holmes (Royal Librarian) at the Hamilton Palace Sale, July 15 1882 (lot 1667).
