Provenance

Sold to Tessier, with others, as a silhouette of Queen Charlotte at the Wellesley Collection sale, Christies, 19 June 1917. Transferred to Buckingham Palace, 27 June 1917. Apparently bought especially for Queen Mary. There is a relevant letter to Queen Mary (RCIN 1150217b), and sale catalogue (1150217c)inside the book '100 Silhouette Portraits from the Collection of Francis Wellesley' (115027a).
