A pair of jasperware bowl-shaped blue and white vases with perforated covers and loose pierced plugs within for the support of flower stems; the bowls supported on three dolphins resting on triangular base with incurved corners, decorated in white low relief with garlands and stylised flowers and leaves in white.
Provenance
Purchased by Queen Mary, 1914. First recorded in the Royal Collection in an inventory of Wedgwood porcelain, 1914-17.
This shape was originally produced as an oil lamp, see Bonhams Skinner, 11 July 2024, imitation porphyry example, lot 1059. -
