A watercolour depicting a young girl standing, three-quarter-length, wearing a grey dress and cap. Signed and dated: "Robert Barnes / 1887". Barnes was a genre and figure painter and a book illustrator. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in the latter decades of the nineteenth century and at the Vienna International Exhibition in 1888.

Presented to Queen Victoria in 1887 for her Golden Jubilee as part of the gift from the Royal Watercolour Society
