This coin celebrates the Coronation of Queen Victoria in 1837., The obverse of the medal shows a draped bust of Queen Victoria with her hair held in place. The reverse shows Queen Victoria on the throne being offered the crown by Britannia, Scotia and Hibernia (the personifications of England, Scotland and Ireland). This medal was designed by Benedetto Pistrucci who was an Italian medallist. He is best known for designing the St George and the Dragon that still appears on coins to this day.
