One of 15 coins and medals in a case formerly in the possession of Charles Edward Stuart, 'The Young Pretender' (RCIN 7443193).
This medal celebrates the children of James III & VIII. The obverse depicts Bonnie Prince Charlie on his 11th birthday with a star, and the inscription MICAT INTER OMNES ('He shines in the midst of them'). The reverse depicts his brother Henry, aged nearly seven, with the inscription ALTER AB ILLO ('The next after him'). Not to be outdone, George II soon issued a much larger medal illustrating his own seven children (RCIN 443233).

Provenance
Formerly in the possession of Prince Charles Edward Stuart ('The Young Pretender'), who presented it to his secretary Andrew Lumisden between January 1766 and April 1769; by descent to Lumisden's grand-niece, Louisa Mure. Later aquired by Lady Clinton and presented to King George VI and Queen Mary.
