Order of the Bath G.C.B. Star. The centre consists of three gilt crowns on a facetted silver ground encircled by the motto in gilt letters on red enamel between beaded borders, all within a green enamelled wreath tied with a blue ribbon bearing the words 'Ich Dien' in gilt letters set flush with the enamel. The device rests on a gilt Maltese Cross mounted on a Star, pierced and facetted, of flaming rays arranged in four greater and four lesser points. This piece is a good example of the Bath insignia as made in silver gilt between 1887 and 1901/1902. By King Edward VII's command the centres were thereafter made in gold.
