Crimea Medal, 1854. Silver.
Obverse: Profile of Queen Victoria's head while young, facing left, from the design by William Wyon, over the date 1854. The inscription reads: VICTORIA REGINA.
Reverse: Image of a Roman Soldier, armed with circular shield and short sword, being crowned by a winged figure of Victory, designed by Benjamin Wyon. The inscription reads: CRIMEA.
Ornate scroll suspender. 2 clasps from different campaigns: Azoff, Sebastopol. No ribbon.
This campaign medal was issued by the United Kingdom to those who fought in the Crimean War of 1854-6.Provenance
