A silver-gilt crucifix and faceted garnet bead rosary with circular silver-gilt medallion stamped with a figure of the Virgin Mary attached. Set in a light blue velvet-lined oval board, covered by domed glass, set in gilt bronze bezel. The whole contained in a later oval blue velvet lined box with easel support at back and two hinged flaps at front.
Provenance
Possibly once owned by Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-87). Presented to Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother by Miss Marguerite Flint, August 1980. It had been a gift to Miss Flint from Miss Ursula Buckley, who had inherited it from Miss Maude Hay Drummond.
