Cameo depicting a full-length figure of a putto seated in a shell-shaped chariot. The chariot is drawn through the waves by a triton on whose back sits a naked nereid.
The scene is inspired by various ancient reliefs: the triton and nereid are based on a gem from the collection of Lorenzo the Magnificent
