A pair of chain link double-sided gold cufflinks set with lavender-coloured chalcedony cabochons framed in white guilloché enamel.
Fabergé’s London branch supplied numerous pairs of cuff links to its royal customers. These ranged in price from £10 to the most expensive at £36. Together with brooches, pendants, tie-pins, studs and buttons in enamel set with semi-precious rather than precious stones, they made relatively inexpensive presents. This pair was made in the workshop of Alfred Thielemann, who was head of Fabergé’s second jewellery workshop from 1880, specialising in small jewels, trinkets and decorations.
Mark of Alfred Thielemann; gold mark of 56 zolotniks
