Coloured over a photograph of a head and shoulder length portrait of Prince Albert (1819-61). The photograph is set in an ivory frame with gilt-metal border. The border is engraved with the inscription 'DEAR PAPA / DECEMBER. 14. 1861'.
The photograph is by John Edwin Mayall (RCIN 2105692), and shows similarities to Bryan Edward Duppa's portrait (RCIN 2906522).Provenance
First recorded in the Royal Collection during the reign of HM Queen Elizabeth II
