Edward VII is depicted here wearing field marshal's uniform with Coronation robes, the ribbon, collar and star of the Order of the Garter, the stars of the Orders of the Thistle, St Patrick, the Bath and St John of Jerusalem; the Sovereign's neck badge of the Order of St John of Jerusalem and a medal bar. The enamel is based on an undated vignette photograph by W. and D. Downey of 1902 (2107474) with the addition of the mantle in the miniature. It forms a pair with a miniature of Queen Alexandra after W. & D. Downey (421932; Royal Collection).
