Pierre Huard the Younger was the eldest son of the Genevan enameller Pierre Huard the Elder, and brother of Jean-Pierre and Ami Huard. As well as painting portrait enamels, he produced decorative enamelled watchcases and mythological and religious scenes. He was enamellist to Frederick, Elector of Brandenburg from 1685 and this enamel of the Elector is therefore attributed to him. Frederick Elector of Brandenburg from 1688 was made King of Prussia in 1701. He married, in 1684, Sophia Chalotte, sister of George I of England.
