A late eighteenth- or early nineteenth-century Italian School copy derived from the half-length self-portrait by Titian of c.1546 – 7 (Gemäldegalerie, Berlin: inv. no. 163), but reversed; painted by the same hand as 421521.
Inscribed in capitals around the upper edge: TITIANO VECELLI. PICTOR and in ink on the backing card: Mar[v]lett[y] / Titiano / VecelliProvenance
First recorded in the Royal Collection during the reign of HM Queen Elizabeth II
