Based on a portrait of the King of Hanover stated to have been at Herrenhausen and to be by Edmund Koken, dating from 1842, this shows the sitter wearing Hanoverian Guard's Hussar's uniform with the ribbon and star of the Order of St George of Hanover and the badge of the Royal Guelphic Order. It is set in a diamond-mounted oval gold frame, the reverse with gilt embossed monogram EA.
