This miniature was acquired as a portrait of Princess Mary of Gloucester, but she is more likely to be the wife of the officer in the uniform of the 11th Bengal Native Infantry regiment in another miniature (RCIN 420835), painted by the same, unknown, artist.
The miniature is inscribed on the backing paper in ink: Pss Mary of Gloucester.
