Derived from the portrait by the Dresden artist Albert Schreuel (1773 – 1853) known from an oval line engraving by C. Bolt (609798; Royal Collection). Carl Paulsen was a Danish painter of portraits and genre scenes who also worked as a miniaturist and lithographer. He worked in Berlin, where he exhibited at the Berlin Academy from 1838 to 1860.
Frederick IV, third son of Ernest II, Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg. He succeeded his brother Augustus (father of Prince Albert's mother, Louise) in 1822, but died unmarried in 1825.
