Henrietta, Duchess of Orleans (1644-1670) 1658 - 1800
Watercolour on vellum laid on card | 5.9 x 4.7 cm (support, canvas/panel/stretcher external) | RCIN 420095

The extensive repainting which this miniature has undergone makes an assessment of its original state difficult. It may originally have been a seventeenth-century production in view of the vellum support, but is possibly a later imitation. It may derive ultimately from a standard portait of Henrietta, Duchess of Orleans ascribed to Pierre Mignard; a version after Mignard is in the National Portrait Gallery, London (no.228).
