Description

This is a portrait or version of a portrait of c. 1816-20. The Duke is shown wearing Field Marshal's uniform with the riband and star of the Order of the Garter and the neckbadge and star of the Royal Guelphic Order, holding his cocked hat in his right hand.

Provenance

Formerly in the collection of the Duke of Cambridge, sold Christie's, 11 June 1904 (48); acquired by Queen Mary and given by her to King George VI when Duke of York
