Flowers in a Chinese (?) bowl Signed and dated 1933
Oil on canvas board | 30.5 x 40.8 cm (support, canvas/panel/stretcher external) | RCIN 407245

A still life of a blue glass bowl containing flowers, including pansies, anemones and fuchsias, resting on a carved Chinese hardwood stand; to the left a Chinese lady figurine, with a fan.
Probably painted by an amateur artist, the painting bears the label of a Beckenham frame-maker on the reverse. It was presumably acquired by Queen Mary, who may have been attracted to the subject, because of her interest in oriental works of art.Provenance
