Victoria, Princess Royal, is shown in full-length, facing almost in profile to the left, seated in a Renaissance-style X-frame chair. She is wearing a black gown, headdress and veil, a red sash, the Order of the Black Eagle and the Victorian family order. She is holding a book in her lap.
This painting is a slightly simplified copy by Bertha Müller of Von Angeli's full-length portrait of Victoria, Princess Royal, which is at the Schloss Friedrichshof and is signed and dated 1894.The painting was given by the Emperor William II to Edward VII in 1902. It hung in his rooms at Buckingham Palace but was removed in 1910 to Marlborough House.Provenance
