Portrait of a Lady c.1780
-
This portrait was purchased as a portrait of Mary Delany (1700-88), which it is not. It must however be a servant or someone attached to the Royal Household at Windsor Castle, which appears in the background. The image should be dated c. 1780. A lady is seated, with her hands in her lap, an octagonal silver snuff-box in her left hand; she is wearting a green dress, a white apron and a lace cap with a green ribbon.
