Description

This painting is probably the 'Small Portrait' of the Duchess of Kent, Queen Victoria's mother, which she gave to Prince Albert in August 1843.

Inscribed on the back with the names of the artist and sitter and the date, 1841.

Provenance

Given to Prince Albert by the sitter; recorded in the Prince Consort's Writing Room at Buckingham Palace in 1868
