This portrait of Queen Victoria's mother, the Duchess of Kent, is a copy by Herbert Smith of a miniature portrait by Sir William Ross which is in the Royal Collection and was painted about 1836.
Inscribed on the back as painted after a prototype by Ross, 1840.Provenance
Presented by the sitter to Queen Victoria; recorded in the Queen's Private Apartments at Buckingham Palace in 1868
