Minka, the pug, was given to Queen Victoria by Prince Vassiltschikoff of Russia in 1847. Bout, a 'Cashmere dog', was presented to the Queen in 1848 by Lord Hardinge, who retired as Governor-General of India in that year.

Painted for Queen Victoria; recorded hanging in the Kennels at Windsor Castle in 1878
