This is a copy of the watercolour that had been painted for Queen Victoria by Orlando Norie. The royal procession is crossing the forecourt of Buckingham Palace on its way to Westminster Abbey. Queen Victoria drove with the Crown Princess of Germany and the Princess of Wales in the Jubilee landau. The Duke of Cambridge rode beside her.
In December 1888 Douglas was asked to take his picture to Marlborough House 'in order that the Prince of Wales may see to it and that H.R.H. may point out any little matters that may possibly require alteration'.
