Antoine de Lalaing was one of the great nobles of the Low Countries who in the 1560s headed opposition to the enforced Spanish government. He fled from the Netherlands in 1567.
This portrait is one of a series of portraits of prominent figures of the Dutch Revolt (see also RCIN 403922 and 406096)). It is a poor-quality copy of an original, possibly by Anthonis Mor.Provenance
