A portrait model of 'Iron Duke', King Edward VII's shooting pony, carved in aventurine quartz with cabochon sapphire eyes, standing on a rectangular nephrite base, silver-gilt plaque to front inscribed 'IRON DUKE'.
Iron Duke was King Edward VII's shooting pony. He was modelled from life at Sandringhm and translated into an aventurine quartz sculpture mounted on a nephrite base with a plaque inscribed with his name. Queen Alexandra purchased this sculpture from the London branch in December 1909 for the price of £70, presumably as a Christmas present for the King.
