A contemporary copy of the portrait in the Gemäldegalerie, Berlin which was painted by Van Dyck in Flanders in 1634 and belonged to Charles I. The sitter was the son of Charles Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy and served as General in command of the Spanish forces in the Low Countries. He wears the Order of the Annonciade.
Provenance
Acquired by Frederick, Prince of Wales, and seen by Walpole in the Drawing Room at Kew in Sept 1761; still hanging in the Coffe Room at Kew in 1805 (no 5)
