Richard Buckner (1812-83)

Description

This is one of a set of paintings bought by Prince Albert in 1844. (The others are RCIN 403866, 403868, 403877 and 403878.) Buckner was based in Rome from 1820-40 but returned to London and exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1842 and 1877, usually subjects drawn from his experience in Italy.
