Gold and lapis lazuli, scallop-shaped snuff box, the hinged lid and base carved as a lapis shell, with gold borders chased with foliate scrolls. Plain gold interior.
Marked for 18 ct gold, London, 1806/7 with duty mark and maker’s mark of Alexander Strachan.Provenance
Originally in the collection of the Duke of Cambridge (1819-1904). Given to King Edward VII by Lady Burton. -
