This is a copy deriving from RCIN 403435 which was probably created in the late sixteenth century. The Yorkist king is shown in head and shoulders view wearing a black cap decorated with a ruby and pearl hat badge, and a rich gown of cloth of gold woven with a pomegranate pattern over a black doublet.
Provenance
Probably acquired by Queen Caroline from Lord Cornwallis; recorded in the Private Closet at Kensington Palace in 1818 (no 640)
