This is a poor copy of the head of a portrait by Joseph Ducreux (Vienna Academy), showing the Empress in widow's costume following the death in 1765 of her husband, Francis of Lorraine. The collection contains two miniature versions of the same composition (RCIN 420699 and 420706).
