Gum pot in the form of an egg, nephrite with chased red gold sunburst mount, brushholder with dull green gold chased foliate design topped by moonstone finial.
Fabergé made practical objects, particularly gum pots, in a variety of different shapes including those of fruit such as apples and pears. This example is in nephrite, a stone which Fabergé used extensively and particularly successfully for a wide variety of desk accessories.
