This work is a pendant to Landscape with a Woman Milking a Cow and a Child Begging for Milk. The pictures are patently composed as a pair, and there is perhaps a nuance of Dutch influence in their style and subject matter. The quality of the pair is good, and they are likely to be fairly mature work, executed for Consul Smith.
