This work is a pendant to Landscape with Peasant Woman and Two Children Begging from a Cavalier (RCIN 401276). The pictures are patently composed as a pair, and there is perhaps a nuance of Dutch influence in their style and subject matter. The quality of the pair is good, and they are likely to be fairly mature work, executed for Consul Smith.
